Amazing app with lots of useful features for experienced, to novice artists!

Ive been wanting a projector to use for cookie and cake decorating but cant afford the $300 - $500 price tag. This app fits the bill in price and form factor! Those projectors take up a ton of space -- which I dont have either..... Im so glad I came across this!

A handy tool to support my artistic inclination. Good to allow positive results early on.

This app is a wonderful tool for both amateurs and professionals alike. The controls are precise and there is no teeny prism to look through (aka "vintage" Lucidas). The field of view is the iPad screen which is an obvious practical boon, and the creators website has a great build-guide on how to create a basic stable stand to get you up and drawing in no time! In only my first day of test-running it I found the application to be completely malleable and capable of allowing fine detailed work once one creates a stable base for the iPad itself.

This app truly is amazing. It help teach you to become a better artist while providing great results immediately. What can be done with little skill will encourage you to keep drawing until youre doing more and more without the aid of the app. One creative video Ive seen shows a lady transferring a cartoon character onto a cookie. How cool is that!

I have never reviewed an app before, but this one just blew me away! I am a complete novice trying to learn to draw and am amazed by the results I get with this app. I feel that practicing with the app over time will teach my eye and hand improved drawing skills when drawing freehand. Really, get it, worth every penny!

Im a cookie decorator, painter, and drawer and this app is exactly what I needed!!! I absolutely love it and recommend to to everybody!! TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY!!!

Using the App for the first time, it become apparent there is a need to work on hand/ eye coordination. There is a very slight delay between the movement of my hand and the image on my screen. This is actually a good thing if your goal is to learn to draw without this sort of aid. Art teachers tell me that I need to learn to draw without looking at my paper, but rather by looking at the subject. This helps develop a feel for the subject. This app does that. The directions for building a stand for my I phone were indispensable. I altered them to include a large base that doubles as my drawing board. Im new to drawing/painting, so this might only apply to me: if Im going to screw up a piece of work, it will be during the first 30 minutes when Im doing the outline. Using the Camera Lucida eliminates that.

Nice concept, although theres a lag between the pencil and the camera. There could be other factors in regards to the lag; software and hardware.

I brought it as I thought it will help me with my cake n cookie decoration but there is a lag between the pencil and image on screen ...dislike

This is a great app for anyone interested in sketching. If youd like to learn how to draw, this is an especially useful tool.

This app is the reason I own an iPhone! Ive made Camera Lucidas using silvered mirrors but they dont have the features this has. Also, I use this app to paint in oil. The posterize and levelize commands help you to visualize depth and can make anyone an artist. Ive been drawing and painting for 32 years and I wish I had this app when I started as Id be daVinci by now! There was one rating about lag time and Ive never experienced a lag even once as Ive used this on iPhone 4 and 5C with iOS 5-7. I have a busted up Dell laptop and Im able to use the iPhone and record the screen using Airserver. There is a lag of a quarter second but this is due to Airserver and not Camera Lucida. Best artists app on the planet!

I’ve never been an artist, but have always been fascinated by pencil drawings. I was inspired to look for a tool like this after seeing Tim’s Vermeer and this app completely blew my mind. It allows a complete novice to actually draw something! I’m totally sold and will be using this all the time. I’ll probably never been a great artist, but this is tons of fun to use and produces great results.

I own a Neolucida and I wanted to see the difference in how this app and my Neolucida would compare with one another, and I have to say for basic use its a fantastic app, Im still trying to get used to the extra features, but for using it as I would my Neolucida, the learning curve was definitely shorter, I was able to jump in and work on drawings right away compared to the setup of the Neolucida and the bit of getting used to look thru it, but they are fantastic, if you dont own a camera Lucida, this is definitely an affordable way of getting one out of your iPhone or iPad.

I NEVER EVER rate apps... but I absolutely love this app sooo much that I had to take the time to rate it. I use this app to decorate cookies and it works perfectly! I follow the developers advice and use my kids Legos to make stands to hold up my iPad. Still have to try it on a cake though. Oh and this is so much cheaper than a KK!

I didnt like the app. There was a ton of lag. I could only put my ipad in one position because of the camera which caused me to draw upside down and the most horrible drawing Ive done. The books I had to stack it up on were in her way, although that might be just me.

I have a physical Camera Lucida, with prism, adjustable arms and angles, etc. This app far exceeds whats possible with that hardware, and is highly recommended for any artist - and the 8.0 updates add even MORE power to the mix.

This is unarguably one the most well thought-out and useful apps I have ever purchased. The variety of viewing-features adds dimensions far beyond any other camera lucida tool that I have ever researched.
